It's interesting times. I think that AI is very very good at simple applications. What it is not good at (yet) is architecting big systems. And that is not just considering the interactions between your database, your middleware, your services, and the front end, but also taking into account trade offs at each point, future-proofing for user enhancements, code/test maintainability and so on. But it will get there. I've joined the retiree team!
You might be right about architecting big systems for now… So we need a human for that. But all the little bits of the UI & the server-side requests and the updates and selects from the database… I think AI can already do that as well as most programmers.
AI needs a skilled human to watch over it, give it instructions and find its mistakes — but a human needs that too.

We retired just in time!
Incredible and unsettling
The bots are already ploughing the fields and they can 3DP a house. We're going to have lots of fellow retirees soon.
